Sale Yard Section:
This is the main section during the prime activity of the society. This section is also called as Vikri Section. Every member of society sells his produces. Hence, every member knows the procedure to be followed here. This section performs the main function. i.e., commission agency business of the society and is the main activity in Siris, Siddapur and Yellapur branches. The entire work relating to members’, member societies’ and also purchaser’s goods are done here. This section has started its operations from day of establishment of this society.
Sales Procedure :
The asami, who wants to sell his produce, has to enter the number of bags to be sold, variety, the date of sales in the register kept for that purpose and in case, through the phone he instructs, then he has to give all these details. Everyday, such produces to be sold are to be kept for sales. If the produce of a member is of the same quality, then the entire quantity will be poured on the ground as one heap and if the produce of a member is of different varieties, then they are to be poured as different heaps. After that, from one end of the yard starting from first heap, till to the last heap, the number will be given. The numbering will be in 2 ways. In first method, each 50 heaps will be named as A, B, C, D etc. and for each heap in a 50s lot numbering will be done from 1 to 50 like A1, A2, B1, B2,… etc. till to the last one. In the second way, each heap will be named as 1, 2, 3, 4,.etc from the first one to till to the last one. This procedure of pouring the produce on the ground and selling it is called Chaka Hakuvadu (Putting in Chaka). The number given to each heap is called lot number. The details of asami name, arecanut variety, number of bags, and lot number of each chaka will be entered in the tender register and then the same will be entered in the computer. The gunny bags pertaining to each heap will be kept along with the respective chaka.
Tender procedure:
The registered purchasers only can participate in tender. The tender form supplied by our society is to be used for tendering process. This contains, date, purchaser’s name, the lot number in serial and the blank space against each lot number for writing the rate to be quoted. Every purchaser has to write his name, date, lot number to which he wants to tender, the quality (if he desires), and his rate and then he has to keep it in a tender box kept for that purpose. Our society is also acting as the purchaser and it also has to follow the similar procedure. The tender will be announced a t 12 o’clock every day. For each lot of 50s, all the tender forms will be kept on the table and for each lot, the highest rated tender and name of such purchaser will be announced. This is called as tender process. The rate so announced is the highest rate for that respective lot. The details of announcement will be written in separate registers by one staff from society and a staff from APMC. After completion of tender, then rates will be again cross verified and then the rate will be entered in the computer. These rates will be sent to chairman, general manager and all purchasers in the form of SMS.
Procedure for Pakka Thuka:
The purchaser has no chance to change or cancel the tender after the tender process is over. But the asami has the chance to reject the tender till the process of pakka tuka. If the rate he got is less than the market rate or if he intendts that, his produce may get better rate after he segregates them into varieties, then he rejects tender. If he rejects the tender, then, he has to pay the entire hamali expenses borne by the society for the process of making that chaka. After the tender process is over, on the same day, each lot will be weighed and handed over to respective purchaser and the gunny bags will be given to the asami. This weighment is called pakka tuka. In case of pakka thka, upto 500 grams will be weighed. The weighment will be in the form of 50 kgs in each bag. The purchaser has to supply the bag. Each bag of 50 kg will be called on Nade. The details of each lot number and the pakka tuka will be written on the register. These details will be tallied with the kachcha tuka. If it is found correct, then the same will be entered in the computer. Sometimes, there may be difference in weighment. Which may be because of weather conditions and if the arecanut is being stored for more days, then it looses its weight. The situations, where the arecanut looses its weight are : when not fully dried or wet by rain are stored; or if chali being fumigated, then there is weight loss. After the pakka tuka, details are to be entered in the computer and a Vikri patti being generated.
